The Open Water certification is the globally recognised entry-level qualification for scuba diving, and there is absolutely nowhere better in the world to earn it than the Great Barrier Reef. Cairns has produced more PADI divers than almost any city on Earth β its warm, clear water and abundant marine life make it an exceptional learning environment.
The 2-day course consists of pool and classroom sessions on Day 1, followed by four open water dives on the Great Barrier Reef on Day 2. Our maximum class size is 4 students per instructor, ensuring genuinely personalised teaching and plenty of time in the water.
Upon completion, you'll receive your PADI Open Water certification β valid worldwide, forever, with no expiry date. Most students complete the day with complete confidence underwater, having seen turtles, reef sharks, and an extraordinary array of reef fish on their very first ocean dives.
"I had zero experience and was genuinely nervous about diving. By the end of Day 2 I was completely comfortable underwater and had seen a reef shark on my third dive. The instructors are exceptional β patient, encouraging, and incredibly knowledgeable."
"Best $595 I've ever spent. Four dives on the Great Barrier Reef to get certified β most people pay that just for a recreational dive. The course is thorough and the teaching is first rate."
"Small class sizes make all the difference β we had four students and our instructor was completely focused on each of us. Highly recommend doing the eLearning before you arrive to save time."
