The Atherton Tablelands rise behind Cairns to a plateau of volcanic lakes, ancient crater lakes, lush dairy farmland, and some of the most spectacular waterfalls in Australia. This tour covers the waterfall circuit β a series of stunning falls and natural swimming holes spread across the Tablelands.
The iconic Millaa Millaa Falls is the most photographed waterfall in Queensland, and it's just the beginning. The tour also visits Zillie Falls, Ellinjaa Falls, and the serene Malanda Falls before heading to Lake Eacham β a crystal-clear volcanic crater lake perfect for swimming with turtles.
Wildlife encounters are a highlight: platypus are frequently spotted in the streams around Yungaburra, tree kangaroos can sometimes be seen in the forest, and the Tablelands are one of the most reliable spots in Australia to see the elusive lumholtz's tree kangaroo.
"Six waterfalls in one day β each one more spectacular than the last. Millaa Millaa is genuinely breathtaking and swimming in the plunge pool was one of the highlights of our whole holiday."
"The platypus at Yungaburra were incredible β we saw two in the wild at dusk. The guide knew exactly where to look. Lake Eacham is also stunning for swimming."
"A completely different side of Cairns β lush green highlands, cool mountain air, waterfalls and wildlife. The contrast with the reef makes it even more special."
